Our Mission & Vision

At the heart of everything we do is Agape—the highest form of love described in the Bible: selfless, sacrificial and unconditional. It’s the love God has for us and the love we are called to reflect to others. Every ministry at Agape Gathering Place Church is a living expression of that divine love, whether it’s through service, teaching, outreach, or healing. Our mission is to create a welcoming place where lives are transformed by the power of God’s love in action.

A Family United in Love

Jesus said, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). At Agape Gathering Place, LOVE, UNITY, and FAMILY are at our core. We cherish the diverse body of Christ—every race, generation, and culture is welcomed, honored, and essential. As one body with many parts (1 Corinthians 12), we believe that everyone matters and has a unique role in the Kingdom. We walk in unity so the world may know the love and truth of Jesus Christ.

Living the Gospel: The Harvest

We believe the gospel is meant to be lived out. Jesus said, “As you go, preach… Heal the sick… freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:7–8). At Agape Gathering Place, we live this mission through outreach, compassion, and community impact.

We support the hungry, the poor, the homeless, and the disabled through ministries like our Sunday bus outreach, crockpot meals, and hands-on support. We are especially passionate about serving and learning from the handicapped and disabled community—discovering their unique value and helping others do the same.

We are called to GO—and so we do, with hearts full of love and hands ready to serve, impacting our city and beyond for the glory of God.

Lead Pastor Mike & Elizabeth Sooley

Elizabeth has a heart for the lost and a desire to see young people touched by God’s power and to show this generation the real Jesus. Elizabeth’s life has been spent at the feet of Jesus as she has led worship in different houses of prayer and currently serves as one of the worship leaders at AGP church Elizabeth is on fire for Jesus and serves the youth in peer mentoring and discipleship.

Mike was born in this city and after spending much of my life here in Waukegan, Illinois I never could have imagined that I would not only be back in this city but in the very church that I started in. I was 27 years old when I got born again and my life took off fast and I came across this church and met some amazing men and women who helped change my life for the better. The early years of faith I went to a young adult’s ministry that shaped my life and each week I would experience God’s presence and see his power demonstrated through healing, salvations, baptisms and lives changed for the better. I served early on as a deacon for a few years, church council member, young adults’ leader and was on the Senior leadership team. Mike is a licensed Pastor through foursquare Ministries International and soon to be ordained.

In 2020 I started two things the first is preaching and the second was to pursue my then friend would later become my wife in 2021.I was set on moving to Florida to start bible college at RMI in Tampa, Fl but soon I would have a big decision to make as I was asked to lead this church. It was one of the biggest decisions that I ever made and after praying we said yes to the call of God and have not looked back. We are here for two reasons, and one is to glorify Jesus and the second is to see this city and region shaken by the power of God. We look forward to advancing God’s kingdom and we could not do it without God’s anointing, and we are thankful for faithful partners in the gospel who are invested in seeing the lost come to Christ.
